Technical Solution Architect
Reports to Head of ICT architecture.
To define, design and maintain the end-to-end solution architecture for epics and features, with attention to non-functional requirements, optimal integration with other domains and platforms and a good balance between cost and quality, and to advise on implementation planning and provide guidance to feature engineers and engineers on execution according to architectural design.
Scope
Independently performs architecture activities for incremental changes (maintaining and extending existing solutions) and innovative changes (conceiving new solutions for emerging opportunities) for different business domains. The Technical Solution Architect for current position will have the main focus on Mobile and Integration projects and challenges.
Contribution to business value
Designs, advises and presents (target) architectures and roadmaps, and provides architecture guidance and validations. Assists in definition of (global) architecture standards.
Stakeholder management: Manages stakeholders up to senior management level for the scope of an Epic.
Knowledge
Masters engineering skills and full set of architecture skills. A proven track record in Payroll Services business is a plus. Has a proven track record of working with Architecture tools, knows and practices the architecture languages and understands the benefits of applying it in projects and communications.
Autonomy :Works mainly independently, sometimes under limited guidance.
Go-to person for Engineers, Product Owners, Architects and Management for architecture advise and execution validation.
Guidance skills: Independently creates easy to read and structured documents and visualisations. And is able to coach more junior colleagues.
Strategic Supplier Management
Maintains (strategic) supplier relationships with one or more suppliers whenever applicable. Contributes to the development of Acerta requirements for packaged solutions.
Risk, Security and Reliability
Thoroughly understands the Risk, Security & Reliability requirements for his/her scope. Defines mitigations to be built in into the architecture design and principles of his/her scope.
Criteria
Area of responsibilities
Defines and manages loosely coupled and scalable Services Architecture (end-to-end chains), that is adaptive to change, with sufficient demarcation and decoupling points to other domains; Breaks down desired (business and IT) themes into epics and features, that can be further refined into implementable stories. Defines together with the Product Owner user stories to further improve the quality of the domain; Defines realistic and ambitious Implementation Roadmap, also taking non-functional requirements into account.
Defines the integration of the services and platforms across the domain, optimizing functional and non-functional requirements and reducing complexity and technical debt; Assists the mandated Product Owner of all (application) interfaces from his domain, including everything required in the IT chain that fulfils the functional, non-functional, Risk and Security requirements of these interfaces.
Designs, aligns, matures and realizes all (application) interfaces of his domain, including the required IT chain; Provides guidance to Engineers, Product Owners, managers and teams/ for the domain, by describing design patterns in Cookbooks together with the Engineering discipline. Describes how these best practices can actually be implemented in practice; Validates that the architecture is implemented according to plan, minimizing technical debt. Escalates to management if necessary.
Knowledge and Complexity/problem solving
Has significant knowledge of multiple environments (domains, platforms, products, architectures, technologies, …), and more specifically on Mobile applications, Integrations patterns and practices, Azure Cloud Native architectures and therefore can work mainly independent, sometimes requiring some guidance; Increasing responsibility for actively making decisions; Sorts information by relevance; Makes complex analyses; Thinks in strategic (future-oriented) terms; Takes decisions on the basis of limited information; Master level or equivalent by experience; Good written and spoken knowledge of English and Dutch and/or French;
5 -7 years of relevant work experience.
